Hello! I’m Ivan Mariukha, founder of Aeroplan Coffee and Staffer Space. Everything I do is, first and foremost, about people.

Throughout our work on Aeroplan and our other projects, as we talk to colleagues and watch the industry develop, I keep noticing that Specialty Coffee is desperately missing one final, essential element. In tracing coffee’s entire journey, from bean to cup, we have grown accustomed to overlooking the Barista.
Do you remember who made your last coffee? Do you know her or his name? Exactly!

Barista Matters is our non-commercial project, created to put this injustice right and help guests find their baristas, and baristas find guests who value each of them.

A good experience is different for everyone.

We are not looking for a universally best barista.
We do not collect stars or compile rankings. We want to help you find people whose approach to coffee is right for you.
And we want to give you a way to say thank you.
